 Vermont fishing trips is now taking reservations for ice fishing trips.  Ice fishing trips meet in Wells or Castleton Vt at 9am. Lakes we fish are Lake St. Catherine, Lake Bomoseen and several smaller lesser known ponds. All fishing gear, tackle, bait and a heated shanty are provided. Beginners are welcome.    Daily rate is $300 for a half day (up to 4hrs) for 1 or 2 guests. Add $50.00 per extra guest. After booking your date, you will need to purchase fishing licenses online. 2022 Ice fishing trips

 Vermont Fishing Trips guide service will start taking ICE FISHING trips after New Year's! 

If you have a specific dates in mind for after 1/8/21 you may reserve the date with a credit card deposit. 

GIFT TRIP cerificates are also available. Gift trips are date open-ended and maybe be used for either Ice or Fly fishing trips.

Meeting Places:  are in Wells, Vt and normally Ice fishing trips are on Lake St. Catherine.

All fishing equipment and gear is provided.

Daily rate is $300.00 for a half day (4 hrs) for 1 or 2...add 50.00 per extra guest                                              MasterCard, Visa or cash all gladly accepted

2020 / 2021 BEHIND US!!!

 Last winter Vermont Fishing Trips was closed for the first time in 30 yrs.. I look forward to this 2022 season and plan to reopen after New Years 2022...WE NEVER HAVE SAFE ICE BEFORE THAT! Here are some family pictures from last year. Cheers and stay safe!

2019 Ice Fishing season is open!

Vermont Fishing Trips is fully operational for 2019 Ice Fishing season. The location is Lake St. Catherine (LSC) located in Wells / Poultney Vt. Lake St. Catherine (LSC) is a 852 acre glacical lake that hosts: Northern Pike, Bass, Brown Trout, Yellow Perch, Black Crappie and Rainbow Smelt. Max depth 68 feet but Chuck targets weedy areas with tipups mainly for Northern Pike and Largemouth Bass.

Meeting Places: From Manchester (30mins)..Stratton (50 mins) We will meet at the Wells Town clerk office located at 1064 Vt -30 Wells, Vt. 05774

From Rutland(35 mins)..Killington/Okemo(under 1 hr) We will meet at the entrance to the LSC State Park, 3034 Vt 30 Poultney Vt

Chuck Kashner provides all fishing gear. Beginners are welcome! You are responsible for a fishing license.

Rate: $300.00 for 1 or 2 anglers add $50.00 for each additional angler. Ice fishing trips are 3 to 4 hours and start at 9 or 10am.

Feb 2017 Update

After a start and stop...we are back on the ice! There are old icefishermen and bold icefishermen BUT there aren't many bold old icefishermen...I NEVER take chances with clients on sketchy ice. Thanks for the view!

Looking good for 2017

It looks good for after New Years! Tapped some test holes today and found 6 inches...Safe ice isn't wide spread yet but after New Years we will be able to walk on water...I have lots of openings...Call me if you want to try ice fishing

GAME ON...We have plenty of Ice

Its game on for Vermont Ice Fishing trips....Trout and Bass season opens this weekend...there is at least 5 inches of ice pretty much everywhere...but the places I fish currently have 6 to 12"...the saying I live by: there are bold ice fishermen...and there are old ice fishermen...but there isn't old bold ice fishermen...I am never the first guy out and I won't be the last guy in the late season either....I scouted hard today and its GAME ON!

BACK IN BUSINESS

After the melt down , rain and warm end of last week and weekend....all the snow on the lake is gone or settled...last nights cold temp locked up the remaining slush.....We are back in business to ice fish and wander around freely again. There is a TON of ice so I am very confident we will be ice fishing throughout the month of March. Late ice can be awesome...thanks for the view, I do have plenty of openings...be safe and stay tuned!

WATERPROOF WINTER BOOTS

Currently, the conditions on top of the ice is very sloppy. We have 14- 24 inches of ice statewide, but there is also 12 to 25 inches of snow on top of it!....the 25 inches would be drifts but here on LSC we have and honest 16 inches of snow. The main issue with snow and ice fishing is the water and slush it creates....these conditions change over night at times.....so when I tell you WATERPROOF WINTER BOOTS....here are examples of what I mean. These are insulated rubber boots made by Ranger. I wear these most of the time!

If you are prone to cold feet which I am not...these are a better choice they are called Baffin boots made in Canada

and lastly an all-round, all season, hunting, boat fishing, mud and snow favorite...LaCrosse Burly

There are plenty of other choices like the Smurf clan love the white Bunny boots but I don't like trying to untie frozen laces....Thanks for the view and there is still a ton of ice fishing left!

RUMORS

Every once and a while a rumor comes true....the Smelt chase on Bomoseen was SUCCESSFUL..I harvested enough for a couple dinners and a snack!

The Yellow Belly was a stumper....solid 13 incher. I invited him to dinner because I knew the GF would NOT eat Smelt:) Thanks for the view and please stay tuned.
